Abstract
Mathematics education is essential for improving students' analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and cognitive growth. It poses several challenges for ensuring equity and inclusion for all, particularly in a multicultural nation like India. This chapter aims to examine the disparities in mathematics performance based on gender and social categories, utilising data from the National Achievement Survey. It explores the significance of equity and inclusion in mathematics education and offers strategies to support learners from diverse backgrounds. The chapter also explores pedagogical approaches aimed at fostering equity and inclusivity. The study's findings help educators, policymakers, and educational administrators to establish an equitable and inclusive mathematics education. It concludes equity and inclusion in mathematics education necessitate a comprehensive strategy that encompasses policy reforms, allocation of resources and infrastructure, teacher professional development, cultural sensitivity, and the establishment of inclusive learning environments.
